Pure Hibiscus

Bold, tart and floral

Dried Nigerian hibiscus flowers (known at home as zobo leaves), nothing else. A deep ruby cup with a bright, fruity flavour, a little like cranberry. Lovely hot, even better iced.

Hibiscus & Ginger

Warming, with a gentle kick

Hibiscus blended with real ginger, the same pairing that makes our Ginger Rush zobo so popular. Tart and fruity up front, warm and spicy at the finish.

From Zobo to Your Teacup

Hibiscus is the heart of everything we make. In our zobo drinks it is brewed slowly with fruit and spice. In our new tea, it is kept beautifully simple: the dried flower, ready to steep in minutes. It is the easiest way to enjoy hibiscus every day, at home or at work.

Hibiscus tea is loved around the world, from West Africa (where it becomes zobo) to the Caribbean (where it becomes sorrel) and Mexico (agua de jamaica). Because it comes from a flower rather than a tea leaf, it is naturally caffeine free.

How to Brew Hibiscus Tea

1. HotPour freshly boiled water over one bag. Steep for about 5 minutes.
2. StrongerLeave it longer for a deeper colour and bolder, tarter flavour.
3. IcedSteep two bags in a little hot water, then top up with cold water and ice.

Try it with a slice of lemon or orange, a little honey, or a sprig of fresh mint.

Hibiscus Tea FAQ

When will Cofa hibiscus tea be available?

We are aiming to launch in December 2026 or January 2027. Join the waitlist on this page and we will email you the moment it launches, so you can be among the first to order.

What blends will there be?

Two blends to start: Pure Hibiscus, made with dried hibiscus flowers, and Hibiscus and Ginger, which adds real ginger for a warming kick. Each pack contains 30 tea bags.

Where does Cofa hibiscus come from?

Our hibiscus is grown in Nigeria, the home of zobo, where the dried flowers are known as zobo leaves. Every pack is strongly sealed to lock in the colour, aroma and flavour until you open it.

Is hibiscus tea caffeine free?

Yes. Hibiscus is a flower, not a tea leaf, so hibiscus tea is naturally caffeine free. Ginger is caffeine free too, so both blends can be enjoyed any time of day, including the evening.

What does hibiscus tea taste like?

Hibiscus tea is deep ruby red with a tart, fruity, floral flavour, a little like cranberry or pomegranate. The Hibiscus and Ginger blend adds warmth and a gentle spicy finish.

How do you make hibiscus tea?

Pour freshly boiled water over one tea bag and leave it to steep for about 5 minutes, longer for a stronger cup. Add honey or a slice of lemon if you like. For iced hibiscus tea, steep two bags in a small amount of hot water, then top up with cold water and ice.

Is hibiscus tea the same as zobo?

They come from the same flower. Zobo, sobolo, bissap and sorrel are drinks brewed from hibiscus, usually with fruit and spice. Hibiscus tea is the simplest form: just the flower, steeped in hot water. If you love Cofa zobo, our tea is the quick, everyday way to enjoy hibiscus at home.

Can anyone drink hibiscus tea?

Hibiscus tea is enjoyed by people all over the world. As with any herbal tea, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication, check with your GP before drinking it regularly.

Can't wait? Our hibiscus zobo drinks are available now.
